Who We Are
Tioga Community Care Center is part of the CommCare family, a Louisiana non-profit corporation which operates 15 skilled nursing facilities all in the state of Louisiana. We believe that our company is small enough to recognize and support individual needs of each center, yet large enough to bring the resources necessary to continuously improve quality of care.
CommCare Corporation’s mission is to be an innovative leader in the development and delivery of quality health care services, and to be committed to a learning environment that attracts and develops dedicated care givers.
Letter from Tioga Community Care Center Team
Welcome to Tioga Community Care Center!
In seeking to meet the needs of individuals who turn to us for care, Tioga Community Care Center continues to invest in the education of our staff and we have pursued and developed specialties. Our experienced staff includes nurses with certifications in long term care, wound care and IV therapy. We have also engaged a nurse practitioner who brings another level of expertise to our center. In addition to our monthly education topics, our staff have access to online education 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
One of Tioga Community Care Center’s specialities includes a wound care center staffed by caregivers with training and experience in treating wounds. Our personel are trained to use specialty equipment which aids in the healing of wounds.
Recently, Tioga Community Care Center completed a 2.4 million dollar renovation to it’s community. The project included beautiful upgrades to common areas, resident rooms and baths, as well as new furniture, flooring and fixtures throughout the building.
“The renovation not only includes physical upgrades,” explains Allen Michael McCartney, administrator of Tioga Community Care Center, “it also includes the re-dedication of space that enhances the purpose of and promotes the goals of each space.”
While Tioga Community Care Center still provides traditional long term care, we recognized that 47% of those who turn to us for care complete rehabilitation and return home, he said. In structuring the renovation, the center dedicated space for a transitional care that features private rooms, a rehab dining room, a library and a fully-equipped rehab gym.
“So we embraced the form follows function philosophy,” said McCartney. “Arranging and designing space that compliments the goals of the program, leads to even better outcomes. In fact, the individuals who turn to the transitional care unit to help recover from an illness or injury and return home tend to encourage and motivate each other, which further improves success rates.”
Ultimately, the renovation and re-dedication of spaces is intended to enhance the quality of care and quality of care of residents served at Tioga Community Care Center, whether the needs be long term or short term.
“We are excited to enter this new phase of serving our community,” said McCartney. “As consumers change and our health care systems change, we are committed to investing in not only the physical environment, but also in technology, staff training and education and philosophies that support the goals of residents and enhance their experience here at Tioga Community Care Center.”
The Rehab Community consists of private rooms designed for short-term rehabilitation for those recovering from conditions such as stroke, pneumonia or broken hips. At the heart of the unit is the rehabilitation center where the focus is on physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy that helps ensure individuals have the strength, endurance and skills to return to their homes successfully.
When illness or injuries occur, we realize that quality of life is often defined by small things: the ability to swallow after a stroke; the ability to bath ourselves, dress ourselves or express ourselves; the ability to walk or perform tasks like cooking or laundry. Our care team has the passion to help patients regain their independence. And the rehab community captures that passion and creates an atmosphere where the patients encourage one another.
The dedication extends to those individuals who depend on Tioga Community Care Center long term. In addition to the skills and experience of our staff, we are planning an extensive renovation for our center.
